I've spent my entire working career, in one form or another, as a visual storyteller. In more recent times I've transitioned from a background in award-winning film and advertising to a dedicated visual art practice.
It's an ongoing process. My earlier works were defined by the immediacy of soft pastels and charcoal but I'm currently under the influence of oil paint. I can't help but be drawn to that medium's malleable nature, its depth of colour and its ability - when it works - to evoke powerful emotions.

I'm hugely inspired by the Bay Area Figurative Movement from the 50s and my paintings, like the artists of that time, treat the human form as a structural anchor to build an artwork around. I'm less concerned with capturing a likeness than I am with the painting as a whole.
My goal is to create paintings where every inch of the canvas is meaningful, intentional and alive.
