My art dwells somewhere between the abstract and the figurative. Intense and fleeting moments that reflect my surrounding environment and emotional state at the time. Urgent, possibly a little angst artworks but always considered.

 

I love the vibrancy and immediacy of soft pastels and they have informed how I work with with oil paint. My mark making and the colours I choose are designed to  convey energy, build on an idea or sell a metaphor.

To provoke an emotional response. I'd like my art to feel alive, to be worthy of further discussion. To mimic some intoxicating and slightly dangerous fairground ride.

I've spent my entire working life drawing, painting, writing and art directing visual ideas, including award winning short films. Art is my nucleus. The place where I'm happiest and most frustrated.
